In an industry that is all about lights, camera, action, and making the person on stage look like a superstar, the best producers are effectively invisible.

You can’t have an ego in this business. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve sat in debriefs or pre-production meetings and the client is fondly recollecting how well the host managed the transitions or kept the show on schedule, how timely things went despite late speaker arrivals, or how the show energy seemed to move so seamlessly.

“The best producers are effectively invisible.”

As producers, we know every step of that vibe is us, but we could care less about being the focus. The biggest compliment is how the SHOW delivered.

I may be flashy on rehearsal day and I’m anything but “show blacks” on event day, but as a producer, I’m the silent hand making it all happen—the pilot in the cockpit landing the plane successfully.

And that’s all that matters.
